Superhero Cafe - p09 - unfinished

Color Version

Boy, this one's been fun!  Wouldn't want to do it this way on a hard deadline, but with time to do it, really gratifying.

No batman with the superman

just a WIP for now, it's got problems and we're working on it... more later

Bats/Supes Page 9

Here's a linear version of the latest page.  Decided to draw on actual comic page this time, cause there's a certain look I'm trying to get.  We'll see, once I shade it, if I can do it.

PRODUCTIVITY

Page Nine SCRIPT

Page Nine THE ACTION PAGE YOU’VE BEEN CLAMORING FOR!!!

Panel 1 NARR: Dubai
Long narrow panel across the top-- from the ground looking up we see buildings crumbled, people running in terror-- total chaos and destruction. Above we see Superman hovering in midair-- he’s just arrived so his cape should be swirling to the right as he’s come to a quick stop.

Superman (thinking) – This is no Earthquake!

Panel 2 and 3 are in the middle of the page, same size.

Panel 2-- Superman lands in the street, in the foreground closest to us we see the foot of a giant robot.
Superman- I should have known, Luthor. I could smell your stench halfway across the Atlantic.

Panel 3- We see a HUGE robot creature with a domed head-- sitting inside is Lex Luthor, arch nemesis, evil scientist and all around bad juju provider for Superman.

Luthor- You have a real mean streak, Kal-El. I don’t know why you always have to resort to personal attacks like that.

Panel 4 – Large panel at the bottom-- the Robot unleashes a huge mega blast from it’s palms that knocks Superman for a loop. Really powerful and painful here.

Luthor – It hurts my feelings.

Finished the Incomplete Page from a bit ago.

FLEISCHER SUPERMAN CARTOONS

These are the cartoons I spoke about in class last week.
Beautifully drawn using rotoscoping (the process of tracing photos of actual actors to capture movement) with stunning composition and coloring-- these have inspired GENERATIONS of comic book artists.  Check out the sample above.

If you're interested in getting a set-- get the official set from Warner Bros which is from the best possible film sources-- beware cheaper sets because these are in the public domain and can be released by any video outfit making a lot of inferior copies out there.

SUPERMAN CARTOONS ON AMAZON -- GET THIS SET.
Note: these might be out of stock from Amazon-- you can search eBay for the same set, I just got one for $10 plus shipping.  There are also third party sellers on Amazon that have these.

Or you can just watch them free on YouTube-- they will go a long way towards helping your work.

I am in Florida nursing my sick mother, actually she's in the hospital so I run back and forth.   I haven't added words for a few reasons:  too lazy to do it by hand, and oops, forgot that I needed to leave clear background space for words.   Maybe this is one  will be one of earlier pices that  I rework

SuperBats 8 with Color

Tried to do most of the forms with pure color.  Then working with trying to capture the icy feel of the fortress.  Want to pursue this further, but outta time.  Have a great class, and see you next week!

Got it laid out and penciled in.  Now, gonna do some experimenting with color techniques.  We'll see if it works out, or just turns into a mess!
